About the project

The project covers a total of 18,988 ha of land located in eastern Uruguay, previously dedicated to extensive cattle grazing, which causes significant soil erosion and degradation. The areas were degraded beyond the point of natural regeneration, so the project consists on reforesting the area with Eucalyptus grandis, Eucalyptus dunnii and Pinus.

The growth of the flora is supported with ecological herbicides, regular pruning and thinning. The main trees will support commercial pulp and sawdust production in a sustainable manner. An ongoing forest inventory will be established to monitor forest development, growth, forest health, fire hazards and other common forestry practices.
